Mandana All Wool Kilim
Of the many cultural traditions of India is the art of Mandana. Also referred to as Rangoli, drawn on floors and on walls to ward off evil. The Mandana refers specifically to the tribal patterns found amongst the communities of central and North India. This beautiful kilim is rather unusual for a kilim. Inspired by the Mandana patterns, the colours are rich earth tones reflecting the warmth of the alluvial soil that comprises most of India. Woven using the Punja weaving technique by hand, the Mandana kilim has country wool yarn on both the warp and the weft. This rug has been handwoven in Northern India using the Punja weaving technique. It comprises of 100% country wool.
