Fijiri Handcarved Box by Studio Inaara-Green
Fijiri serves as our tribute to Qatar's pearl diving legacy. The Firiji songs, sung by boatmen guiding divers to the sea, featured rhythms and melodies tailored to their work pace, facilitating synchronization and efficient breathing underwater. Passed down through generations, these songs were intrinsic to Qatar's pearl diving communities' cultural heritage. The work of pearl divers was rigorous and perilous. Equipped with minimal diving gear, often just a nose clip and weighted rope, they plunged into the sea, relying on their breath-holding abilities to collect oysters from the ocean floor.
These divers were renowned for their remarkable free-diving skills, reaching depths of up to 30 meters or more without the aid of modern scuba equipment. Revered for their bravery, expertise, and resilience amidst the sea's perils, they epitomized the essence of Qatar's maritime tradition. For this beautiful hand carved box, we drew inspiration from one of Qatar's oldest symbols—the Pearl Monument—erected to honor this rich heritage. Our design incorporate elements symbolizing the dhow boat and the perils of the sea encountered by these brave men while diving in the Arabian Gulf

Care instructions for fabrics
• Wash in cold water: Avoid hot water, especially hot tap water in summer
• Mild detergent only: Do not use harsh chemicals or strong cleaners
• Gentle wash only: Avoid heavy or high-speed spinning in the washing machine
• Colour care: Wash dark colours separately
• Natural dye care: Some colour bleed is normal in early washes and will settle over time
• No dry cleaning: Natural dyed fabrics should not be dry cleaned
• No tumble drying: Avoid dryers as they can shrink and damage the fabric. Do not spin in the machine.
• Dry in shade: Air dry flat or hang away from direct sunlight
• Handwashing is recommended for apparel.

• Avoid chemicals: Keep away from perfume, soap, and harsh substances
• Store properly: Use sealed plastic or Inaãra muslin pouches
• Avoid certain surfaces: Varnished wood and velvet can cause tarnish over time
• Natural oxidisation: Silver-polished brass will oxidise; this stabilises with time
• Natural variations: Handmade, stone, and mother of pearl pieces will differ slightly
• Each piece is unique: Variations are part of the beauty of bespoke jewellery
Care instructions for rugs
• Vacuum regularly: Use low to medium suction, avoid brush rollers
• Shake or air out: Remove dust and refresh the rug outdoors
• Wash with water: Use mild wool detergent and cold water when needed. DO NOT SOAK.
• Spot clean spills: Blot immediately with a white fabric, do not rub
• Avoid harsh scrubbing: Protects the weave and wool fibers
• Dry flat in shade: Prevents shrinkage and color fading
• Rotate periodically: Ensures even wear over time
• Use a rug pad: Adds grip and reduces stress on the weave
• Professional cleaning: For deep or stubborn dirt or if you are uncertain about doing it yourself.
