Bhujodi Shawl Chomki Double Border (Orange)

The off white yarn forms the perfect base for this handwoven kutchi shawl with carefully embroidered mirrors by the Ahir community.

Bhujodi shawls are handwoven in a five hundred year old tradition by a small community of 'vankars' in the Bhujodi region of Kutch, Gujarat. Woven on pit looms, the authentic shawls are made with handspun country wool, which is coarse in texture. As the art developed to cater to commercial needs, a variety of blends have been introduced that offer softer and easier-to-maintain versions. Those blended with tussar (moth) silk are extremely popular for their refined, regal look.
