Mirror Work Bhujodi Full Shawl
A classic Chomak border handwoven in durable acrylic yarn, and finished with authentic mirror embroidery, these shawls from Kutch, Gujarat are much sought after. This black and white gives you the ethnic richness while still appearing muted in the colour combination.
Bhujodi shawls are handwoven in a five hundred year old tradition by a small community of 'vankars' in the Bhujodi region of Kutch, Gujarat. Woven on pit looms, the authentic shawls are made with handspun country wool, which is coarse in texture. As the art developed to cater to commercial needs, a variety of blends have been introduced that offer softer and easier-to-maintain versions. Those blended with tussar (moth) silk are extremely popular for their refined, regal look.
